We live in a little third story condo overlooking the city, almost above the tree tops. The balconies surround an atrium featuring fountains, plants and one or two roaming cats who call the outdoors home. This Melrose Place environment is surprisingly peaceful, generally quiet, and just really beautiful (to me). I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else during this time of my life.
The first week we moved in, a good friend of mine asked if we lived in a treehouse while climbing the stairs to our front door. I hadn’t thought about it before, but she was right, we do.
After much anticipation and excitement last night (“is it snowing yet?”) I woke up to the most beautiful view. Snow! Although I was recently in Detroit and saw much more of it there, snow gets me every time.
As if our little treehouse home wasn’t already special, today it had a little something extra. All roommates (usually sleeping, at work or getting ready for the day in the early AM hours), were home slowly greeting the morning. Work was delayed, cancelled, or happening from home in the icy conditions. That allowed happy hearts to stay tucked in bed for a few extra minutes, make coffee while looking out the window, or photograph the winter scene before us. Part of me wishes every morning could be like this one.
The sun is out, the snow is melting or being picked up by the wind off the roof, and our wintery day won’t be around for long. All I know is, no matter how small the snowfall may have been, it was fun while it lasted.

I love your snowy treehouse!
