One of my favorite things about Her Side Project is how many of my fantastic clients spread the word about their photos and overall experience. Word of mouth is the number one way I meet new clients and have opportunities to photograph their beautiful lives. A perfect example of this is my experience with Jennifer, Rand and little Liam. After seeing the results of her friend’s summer family photo shoot posted on Facebook, Jennifer contacted me for a session of her own!
After a few email exchanges, I learned that Jennifer is a former employee of the company I work for and we have friends in common. After making this connection, I was even more excited to meet her. What a small world.
In a stroke of sheer awesomeness, these three met me bright and early on a Saturday morning to catch the perfect morning light. The first thing I noticed was their impressive outfit coordination. The orange and brown tones paired with the sophisticated-yet-casual vibe is something that just can’t be taught. Jennifer has a serious eye for fashion!
Secondly, though only 2 1/2 years old, Liam couldn’t have been more well behaved. He photographed very well, the light catching his blue eyes and his expressions always open and friendly. Rand and Jennifer work wonderfully on camera as well. They have an ease which allowed me to capture the beautiful life they’ve built without needing to break the ice. We had a blast running around with the Austin skyline in the background and even ventured over to a local Trailer Park Eatery for a few photos on brightly colored benches in front of sno cone and sushi stands (the latter which I still do not entirely trust to eat!)
Special note: I captured my favorite family photo to date during this session. I’ll give you a hint: silhouette.
Jennifer, thank you for giving me a glimpse into your lovely life! I hope you always cherish these photos and memories. Can’t wait for the next shoot!

This is the second set of family photos I’ve seen from you, and I’m even more awe-struck than I was with the first set! I don’t know how you do it, but you manage to capture the inner happiness of a family. Your pictures don’t just show a family together- they show a loving family that enjoys being together. You are so crazy-talented!!
